    Residents of Closter & the surrounding towns can enjoy a wonderful pool tucked away in the woods.
    Operated by the Closter Swim Club, the pool is open part time from Memorial Day to approx. mid-June, & full
    time from then until Labor Day. Facilities include a regulation sized pool with two low diving boards & a wading
    pool for members less than six years old. Children can take advantage of free swimming lessons and swim &  
    diving team activities. Pool area amenities include a picnic area, playground & equipment for basketball,
    horseshoes, volleyball, softball, knock hockey and more. Special events are held throughout the season.

    The Closter Nature Center is a beautiful oasis of woods and water in the middle of suburban Closter,
    a wonderful jewel to explore, relax or to share in its educational & environmental programs. The nature center  
    provides informative monthly lectures, walks for the general public and for school & scout groups, a summer
    program for young people, all in its 136 acres of ponds, brooks, meadows and forests to explore.

    Also available for the publics enjoyment are acres of conservation area, 4 local parks, 5 public
    playgrounds, 4 athletic fields & an additional private swimming pool. The town employs a salaried part time
    Recreation Director, several assistants & summer staff, all in addition to a volunteer 20 member recreation
    commission & coaches.
    Programs include: Baseball softball & T-Ball in the spring, a tennis program with professional instructors for
    children, an Easter Egg Hunt, an April fishing contest at Ruckman Pond, free summer recreation program for
    children including individual/group games as well as arts & crafts plus special events such as a magic show
    petting zoo and pony rides, a Fall program for Soccer Football Cheerleading &  Fall Tennis & Roller Hockey,
    a Halloween parade, a winter sports season consists of Basketball Indoor Soccer Roller Hockey & Wrestling,       
    adult programs for Men's basketball & Men/Women's Softball and Coed Volleyball.
    Closter also has a Performing Arts program under the guidance of the Recreation Commission.  
    Parks include: Veteran's Memorial Park on Harrington Ave, Mollicone Park on Knickerbocker Road, Schauble
    Park on Bergenline Avenue, Amendola Park on Willow Road, High Street Park on High Street & Piermont Rd,
    Ruckman Park on Ruckman & Piermont Roads.     

    The public library on High St. is stocked with books as well as audio and video disks, it also offers
    educational and cultural events for children and adults.

    Nearby Closter the Demarest Nature Center offers trails and a wonderful brook & quaint hanging
    bridge connecting the west side to the eastern part of the Nature Center.
    The Tenafly Nature Center located at 313 Hudson Ave. is just a short drive from Closter, visit their website

    The JCC (Jewish Community Center) offers many sports facilities including indoor and outdoor
    swimming pools, cultural events and community recreational activities, all housed in and around its state of
    the art building and grounds located at 411 East Clinton Ave in neighboring Tenafly, just a short 10 minute
    drive from Closter. It is one of the largest such centers in Bergen County.

    In neighboring Demarest, The Art School at Old Church is a meeting place for learning & exchanging
    artistic ideas. Located at 561 Piermont Rd. it offers various fine art classes, craft instruction, studios and
